A wonderful antique Victorian Scottish Penannular brooch C. 1860, adorned with seven cabochon Citrine’s and lovely natural Agates which have been cut to fit the brooches unique shape.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid-1800s.

The Penannular is a type of Celtic brooch which was worn as a clothes fastener by Scottish elites during the medieval period.

The gallery is Silver and decorated in beautiful Celtic patterns with a Scottish kite hallmark on the reverse.

Fitted with a sturdy pin and safety chain too.

A highly collectable Scottish piece steeped in history.
